Here are some facts about the Club

Based in Yarnton, Near Kidlington, Oxfordshire, England.
 

• Coarse Fishing club.

• Exclusive fishing rights for 1/2 mile stretch of the river Thames, near Cassington, Oxfordshire which boasts bags of 20lb+ of roach during 2019 matches 1/2. (See "Waters" tab for Map).

• We hold about 20 competitions a year, all held on a Sunday.

• For 2020/21 there will be 3 matches on our stretch of the Thames, the rest at other venues rented for the day.

• Those venues include Tunnel Barn Farm, Walters Lake, Boddington and Barston, to name a few.

• Currently about 26 members.

• Run by an annually elected committee of approximately 7 members.

• Permit holders only. No day tickets.

• 2 paid sections on every match as well as framers (number dependent)

• 12 cups to contest

• A friendly, welcoming group of anglers of all ages

Yarnton and District Angling Club is your local, friendly way to enjoy a good day’s coarse fishing.
For those who also enjoy friendly competition with their fishing, the summer sees the start of a new competition schedule. Some competitions (“matches”, in angler speak) will be on well stocked lakes.
Venues include matches on Tunnel Barn,  Bishops Bowl and some on the canal. In 2014 the winner of the summer Tunnel Barn High Pool match caught 221lb 9oz of fish in 5 hours!
The club’s own water, approximately 1/3 mile of the River Thames at Cassington, will be used for several matches. Match trophies include aggregate points and weight, largest carp and best specimen caught in a match. To encourage the next generation of anglers there is also a trophy awarded to the highest aggregate point scoring under 16 competitor.
The club water on the Thames at Cassington is open to members from June 16th to March 14th and is known for summer Roach fishing, Chub (to over 5lb), Perch (over 4lb), Pike (20lb) and river Carp (over 14lb). Parking is convenient and access is an easy walk across Water Meadow. Member working parties ensure a comfortable bankside.
